Is your Inexperience Shutting you down?

Ever had to go through the humiliation of being cut in the middle of your presentation because someone thought what you have prepared isn’t worth listening to?
It has happened to me. My work has been denied by people who are more polished, more senior and more experienced than me. The moment I get that rejection, it used to just suck out all the happiness from me. But as my work experience is growing, I’ve learnt to dust off the rejection and move forward. I try to look beyond people, explore their emotions and find out ways where I could’ve done better.
Not surprisingly, in today’s environment people like to shun others, especially juniors. This behaviour is a typical case of I-am-better-than-you syndrome. Just yesterday, I met a friend who called me in tears after attending a meeting with higher management. After spending days curiously anticipating meeting her bosses, the experience wasn’t like how she’d imagined. Noting that she has just joined the company six months back, most executives ignored her in the conversations, leaving her disheartened and thinking if it is the place she should be at?
I was shocked at the extent to they turned away their backs on her and made her feel low for being too inexperienced. Yes, as youngsters we will take our time to reach to a level where you are, and sometimes we need to learn to accept rejection of industry veterans, even when it seems like the only purpose of the latter is to thwart bubbling of new ideas. But a fine line needs to be drawn between perceptions and behaviours.

Earthquake in Japan, the Nuclear Crisis & Me

Earthquake in Japa
Last one month has been phenomenal – there have been quakes, fights, eruption of anger, and the mother of all crises – nuclear catastrophe. Surrounding all this are we – The People.  What is my part in saving Japan and the rest of the world from something that big?

Situations like these bring the best out of people. Oneness, ingenuity springs up when the times are tough, making the power of community remarkable. Bravo to those courageous folks who have contributed in easing the pain of suffering.

Nuclear Reactor, Russia
What am I doing? That’s a question I have asked myself time and again? I want to do my bit too and that I do by sitting in peace few minutes every one hour and sending the vibrations of pure love, good wishes and positivity. There’s a lot needs to be done and I haven’t become strong enough to remain glued to one thought for more than few minutes but the process of learning is on.

Making Your Thoughts Count

We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves.

“A human is a product of the thoughts he keeps.” – We know that and yet we choose to think rubbish. Take a moment to visualize your thoughts and you’ll see more than 98% of your thoughts would be either of the days that has gone by or of the future. Yesterday & Tomorrow.

And here we forget one of the most venerable teachings of life “Present is a PRESENT.” Why must we choose to endure pain long after the incident has happened? Why we worry about what is yet to come? Why must we give tit for tat? Why can’t we practice patience?

Let’s not be ordinary. Let’s do something special and make our good thoughts count. Let’s spread peace by being at peace with ourselves because with our thoughts, we make the world.

Food for thought

I met a middle aged couple, both of them serving at the board positions in different countries. Loved their zest for work and life. The way they truly love and repect each other is remarkable. They have a wonderful aura of positivity around them and its difficult not to get impressed my them. I asked them what their secret was and they replied
"When making your choice in life, do not neglect to live".
Beautiful!
