Love Of My Life

You make me smile,
Every moment of the day

When dawn breaks the morning

We cycle together

Pacing ourselves

Breaking the shelves

The blood pulses

Desire to go fast is compulsive

We become intense

Sustaining the breaths

Until we are spent

The sweat drips

Panting,

We recover

Your obsession keeps me going

Tomorrow, I must have you again

Life isn't the same without you

I love you,

I need you,

..... my daily workout.

The City That Ran (Short Story for Kids)

Once there was a city that was alive. It breathed through winds and was aware of what was happening inside it. People who lived in it were happy and took care of it. They planted trees, kept their houses and streets clean and followed a disciplinary approach to live in it. The city in turn gave them fresh water, fertile land and lot of resources that made their life beautiful.

With time people got tired and started ignoring the needs of the city. They still took whatever they needed from it, but no longer did their duties towards it. For years the city ignored their awful nature and continued giving them fresh food and shelter. However, when the cracks of buildings began showing in open, it decided to teach them a lesson. So once night, when everyone slept, the city woke up and ran. It locked its roads and travelled north for days. When the city finally stopped, the people discovered that they were surrounded by bitter cold.

“We have always lived in spring. How do we get back?” they asked each other as they explored the surroundings.

After searching for days and not finding any way to go back, they decided to speak to the city.

“So this is how you take care of us when we show our trust in you?” They said. “Well, get ready, because we know how to bring a city to its knees.”

In the weeks that followed, the people and the city had a rough fight. While people tried to open the blocked roads, the city did everything to stop them from getting out. In the middle of the fight, the cold started to freeze the homes of people and crack the walls of the city. When they had nothing left to eat, the people – masters of the city – realized the only way to win is to make peace. And so they began cleaning the streets and repairing the damages. The city also noticed that it liked the refurnished look and began easing out its anger. Soon enough, the town began sparkling with cleanliness. The city got so happy that one night; it ran back to the country it belonged to.

They arrived just before dawn, delighted with the little trip they all had taken together. The lasting pristineness meant the city could finally rest in peace.
The only thing known about the city now is that when it grew old, it was taken down wall by wall and distributed all over the world. Some stones from those walls could well be part of your town today, so don’t forget to take care of it so that the old city is forever happy.

3 Step Plan to Control Ego

This Monday, I had an argument with the guy who washes our car. Though my point of rebuking him was valid, letting the disagreement go out of hand wasn’t. It took me almost half a day to bring my mind to calm & another two days to pacify my maid, since he came from her reference. And that was after I call myself a spiritual, level-headed person. It was a small test of my control over words, and I blew it.
This small incident opened my eyes to the biasness that we have towards our own thoughts – ego, in other words. Years of doing regular meditation has brought it down to some level, but it still exists. The spiritual idea of knowing myself as a whole, and finding different (more positive) part of personality needs more practice. The self-important, self-centric part of doesn’t need to be destroyed. It just needs to be understood, and used only in the times of criticality. Keeping in mind the delicate balance this task requires, here are my three points of action:
1.       Recognise your size in proportion of the universe: If you think about it seriously, you are tinier than the speck of dust in the proportion of this whole universe. What you do in your daily life hardly affects things at this scale. The liberation of accepting your insignificance gives relief from self-centricity and helps to put self in the perspective.
2.       Recognise others’ importance: You know why so many people get stuck in traffic jams? Because everyone thinks that he’s more important and so tries to ram in between. Your journey is only as important as the person’s traveling next to you. So next time when your ego starts to jump up and down in the moment of showing who the boss is, remind yourself that every other person and every other work is as important as yours in this universe.
3.       Recognise the temporariness of every moment: Today’s headline is tomorrow’s forgotten fact. So many instances could have been avoided if we hadn’t let Ego blow them up into monumental proportions. Most of these are now forgotten moments. Change is inherent. Nothing lasts. Nothing stays in the same state as it is now for even a second. Go for your goals, and love the journey. But recognise the passing nature of time that makes everything seem as just a castle in the sand, to be washed out to sea by the waves of time.

I Am That Woman

I walk
I talk
I feel
I heal
I possess a heart that you may tear apart
But it's my spirit that I inherit
I am the woman
With the "man"

I make
I create
I love
I cannot hate

I am the woman with undying strength
Who will go to any length
To bring things together
Whatever may be the weather

I am the woman
That woman…

What Is My Worth?

That question— "what is my worth?" —is one of the most painful and sacred ones a human heart can ask. And it usually arises not fr...
