Emotional Intelligence and Spirituality

This write-up deals with handling emotional intelligence using spirituality & mindfulness

Emotional intelligence is understanding your emotions creatively and using intelligence to mold them in a positive way. It makes you the kind of person you are. It encapsulates how you think, react or behave in certain situations in life. It works day and night to give colour to your personality.

Do you remember the Will Smith — Chris Rock incident at the recent Oscars? A supposedly brilliant and well-educated person lost his credibility in a moment. No amount of experience came to his rescue when he instinctively reacted to a joke. And while you can call the behavior lapse of judgement, the power of emotions cannot be denied. For what we are, they remain a very strong source of energy in the pursuit of us becoming human beings. However, we have still not been able to harness the power of emotional intelligence. As a society, we continue to focus on education, knowledge, and experiences but leave out emotions - the basic thing that influences our lives in a fundamental way.

Why people do not understand emotional intelligence?

The gap between understanding the emotions and molding them in a positive way occurs almost everywhere. Most people see emotional intelligence as something they are born with - they either have it or not. They see emotions as something that can hurt them. It makes them a bit reluctant to undertake the EQ journey. Despite the growing focus on emotional quotient, there is a deficit in understanding and managing emotions. According to a recent study, only one-third of people are ever able to accurately identify their emotions. This means that more than 70% of us are not skilled at identifying our emotions. Emotional awareness is not a topic that people talk about frequently.

Emotional intelligence and spirituality

As you move through your daily routine you pass through certain core feelings - happiness, sadness, aloofness, anger, fear, and embarrassment. As you move through your day - meet your friends, go out for dinners, finish your work at the office, or even exercise - your heart is constantly feeling a stream of emotions. These feelings have become so common to you that you often fail to notice them. Their complexity reveals itself in various forms of intensity triggered by day-to-day incidents. Emotional intelligence is your ability to recognize these emotions and to manage your behavior and relationships accordingly.

Emotional Intelligence, Spirituality & Mindfullness
Spirituality is a medium to delve inside your personality. By using the inner silence you get the power to analyze your actions and reactions. It creates a stable style that redefines you as a calm, rational, and peaceful person who has the power to change self.

A human is a spiritual being in essence. Your achievements, relationships, education, and experiences - are all the projection of your inner values. You can be a very calm person even when everything around you seems to be collapsing. Your personal competence is made up of spiritual self-awareness and self-management skills. Knowing that you are just a source of energy in this body, mindfulness kicks in. It gives you and ability to accurately receive your emotions at the moment and control your tendencies across situations.

What happens when you get up early? That’s a question I have researched many times. I like getting up early and knowing that it does good for my body & mood; I get that extra strength to keep this habit. In this article, I explore some of the deeper mysteries of how the mind works when it is activated earlier than usual. Hope you feel as inspired reading it as much as I loved writing it. Making the morning routine To those who can get up early without setting alarm, I say you are blessed. Not many have that much of control over the self.
