Pale Blue Dot

September 5th marked the 45th anniversary of Voyager 1. Its most iconic image was of planet Earth from distant space called - The Pale Blue Dot - which was taken at a distance of 3.7 billion miles, from the far edge of the solar system.

This image is a reminder of how precious, delicate and ephemeral life is. Throughout history, humans have taken their lives for granted. We have always led with the conceited assumption that we are special, central, and significant; and each death has proven us wrong.

Our position in space is ordinary. Our existence is an endlessly repeated cycle of exercises in living & dying.

Seeing this image is a thing of calming beauty. All our joy and suffering… every creator and destroyer of civilization… every superstar, every politician, a person of influence is on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.

The truth brought out of this is the absolute futility and delusion of conceit: the fallacy of a superiority, a superior gender, of nationalism, narcissism and forgetting that we are just consciousness, each of us with a simple motto - live easy & live with inner peace

Creating Your Positive Aura

Do you sometimes feel drained out even when you haven’t done much work? Are the situations weighing you down? Do you spend sleepless nights worrying about what will happen to your kids after you are gone?

Does any of this make you feel lonely?

There is a hidden energy crisis in our world today. The high-tech society has lost touch with the emotional and spiritual aspects of our personalities. Information bombardment on mobile, TV, Netflix, e-mails, and faxes have burned us deeply into techno-induced despair. We know everything, yet we are hollow. We have enough to eat, yet we want more. The alarming thing is we have taken this tiring, joyless state of existence as the ‘new normal'. We have accepted that some days are not ours. The energy depletion is so much that we don’t care about anything else except ‘self’.

There’s a war going on in Ukraine. We created a few tweets, signed some useless online petitions, criticized the political regime, and our duty was done. People are dying of hunger somewhere, but that doesn’t stop us from indulging in weekend feasts. Domestic violence is on rise, but it's better to turn a blind eye. The parents with mentally retarded children are crying for help, but someone else will step up.

Why?

“Because it’s not my calling.” – The most useless term our generation has learnt to ignore its responsibility.

Why?

“Because what can we do anyway?”

But we can.

We can bring a change around us. It doesn’t need to be drastic. Slow & steady, little pieces of help, cooperation with self and others. These aren’t big things, but they need commitment. These little things not only will help you to alleviate tensions, but also create a life that nurtures and supports you.

As a meditationer, with fifteen years in practice, I believe the most profound transformations take place in the most simplest ways. Your mind has the power to set you up on a path and explore the hidden treasures of emotional healing. You heal yourself; the world automatically heals. That’s the law of nature. It is dominated by the feelings of love, forgiveness, and the power to accept. You can soar into the higher dimension, be part of swirling invisible energy fields and shape the thoughts of people around you.

The secret to expanding a positive aura has been taught in Rajyoga meditation. It is your guide to the unseen realm of building positivity and turning negativity around.

Energy comes from what you consume. This includes food, thoughts & extensive rays of energy fields that your five senses come in contact with. Harnessing this energy with the feelings of compassion, acceptance and courage create your aura. It makes you a supportive person with a deep capacity of tolerance and a sense of generating creative thoughts that bring peace to others. These thoughts are easy to create once you develop a practice of them.

Emotional Intelligence and Spirituality

This write-up deals with handling emotional intelligence using spirituality & mindfulness

Emotional intelligence is understanding your emotions creatively and using intelligence to mold them in a positive way. It makes you the kind of person you are. It encapsulates how you think, react or behave in certain situations in life. It works day and night to give colour to your personality.

Do you remember the Will Smith — Chris Rock incident at the recent Oscars? A supposedly brilliant and well-educated person lost his credibility in a moment. No amount of experience came to his rescue when he instinctively reacted to a joke. And while you can call the behavior lapse of judgement, the power of emotions cannot be denied. For what we are, they remain a very strong source of energy in the pursuit of us becoming human beings. However, we have still not been able to harness the power of emotional intelligence. As a society, we continue to focus on education, knowledge, and experiences but leave out emotions - the basic thing that influences our lives in a fundamental way.

Why people do not understand emotional intelligence?

The gap between understanding the emotions and molding them in a positive way occurs almost everywhere. Most people see emotional intelligence as something they are born with - they either have it or not. They see emotions as something that can hurt them. It makes them a bit reluctant to undertake the EQ journey. Despite the growing focus on emotional quotient, there is a deficit in understanding and managing emotions. According to a recent study, only one-third of people are ever able to accurately identify their emotions. This means that more than 70% of us are not skilled at identifying our emotions. Emotional awareness is not a topic that people talk about frequently.

Emotional intelligence and spirituality

As you move through your daily routine you pass through certain core feelings - happiness, sadness, aloofness, anger, fear, and embarrassment. As you move through your day - meet your friends, go out for dinners, finish your work at the office, or even exercise - your heart is constantly feeling a stream of emotions. These feelings have become so common to you that you often fail to notice them. Their complexity reveals itself in various forms of intensity triggered by day-to-day incidents. Emotional intelligence is your ability to recognize these emotions and to manage your behavior and relationships accordingly.

Emotional Intelligence, Spirituality & Mindfullness
Spirituality is a medium to delve inside your personality. By using the inner silence you get the power to analyze your actions and reactions. It creates a stable style that redefines you as a calm, rational, and peaceful person who has the power to change self.

A human is a spiritual being in essence. Your achievements, relationships, education, and experiences - are all the projection of your inner values. You can be a very calm person even when everything around you seems to be collapsing. Your personal competence is made up of spiritual self-awareness and self-management skills. Knowing that you are just a source of energy in this body, mindfulness kicks in. It gives you and ability to accurately receive your emotions at the moment and control your tendencies across situations.

What is Spirituality?

What is spirituality, why is spirituality important and what can you say in the discussion of spirituality vs. religion?

While growing up I had a strong understanding of religion. I'm a Hindu and an Indian it was normal for us to participate in the religious activities that my mum undertook. We why not very religious, but of course, there was a sense of belonging to Sanatan Dharma.

My mum had a daily routine, which she follows till today. As soon as she got up, she would go to the small temple that we had made at our home to do a namaskar. She would then take the holy water and spread its droplets in the home. I remember her quiet voice humming mantras while doing this day after day. I loved getting up to that kind of morning ritual. It bought a subtle peace of mind before our day started. To my mum religion has been an anchor to her entire life. She is well aware of all the important days in Panchang and makes sure to bring up their importance in every conversation that we have. And that has made me dig into spirituality and understand it in my own way.

What is spirituality?

Different people have different ideas about what is spirituality. Numerous books have been written, lectures have been shared and discussions have taken across all over the globe to understand the depth of it. To my little mind spirituality is all about understanding the self. We as humans have the being part of us which is inside. That being part is consciousness, soul, noor, aatma - which guides us throughout our entire life journey. We become good or bad humans in the direction of that being within us. The being is made of Mind, Intellect, and Habits

Why is spirituality important?

Spirituality directs our mind and intellect to work in a way that forms better, divine-like habits. It is the understanding of our own actions throughout the day. Many people relate it to karmic philosophy (you reap what you sow), but they forget how deep its roots go. Speaking bad about someone behind their back or allowing your temper to rise or getting involved in incorrect actions is something that we are habitual to doing even unconsciously. And the root of every action is a thought. Our thoughts guide us, create our behaviour, and make us the person that we are today.

Before we go any further I would like to ask you to do an exercise with yourself.  Just take a moment to think about all those people with whom you do not share good vibes. Just think about how long you have been carrying those quality thoughts in the form of an impression of that person. And now, when that person is not near you, you still feel that resentment, anger, or displeasure whenever you think about that person. This is how we mould our behaviour towards someone. We create Impressions of people in our minds and then see them as are mine in to protect them. We do not allow these Impressions to change because we always feel that we know better.

Spirituality is important as it helps us to come out of these toxic thoughts. It is about acknowledging that I the being, have the power over my emotions. No one can make me feel low without my authorisation. Spirituality induces a habit of positive self-talk that goes a long way in defining our personalities.

Spirituality vs. Religion

I have been to both sides of the coin. I have experienced religion first-hand and then spent years understanding spirituality. While religion what a daily routine in my life, it was spirituality that taught me e ways to think. It opened my mind ^ of self to a point where I stopped blaming others and took and started taking responsibility for my actions. Spirituality to me has been like liberation from my old thinking patterns. It has made me into a lifelong learner with a keen interest to improve myself. In a world where there are wars being fought within the countries, it has given me e a chance to stay calm and spread positivity through vibrations.
